I find it disturbing and very dishonest to not admit that the present operation is already without a <br />legal permit. I resent that our neighbor is being less than straightforward with us and now she <br />wants to expand it further. <br />I am extremely concerned that this will further change our neighborhood in an acceptable [sic] <br />way. Increasing the risk to the children that play in our neighborhood. To generally even <br />walking there as many do for exercise, mothers walk around the cul-de-sac with the babies on <br />strollers. <br />Now, this proposed B&B wants another four or more cars to come and go which is unacceptable. <br />We cannot allow more traffic to any further disturbance of a peaceful life and we peaceful life <br />we deserve and enjoy in our neighborhood. <br />We don't wish to become a resort type destination. Less and less a quiet residential, kid friendly <br />one especially by an owner who isn't even going to live there. That is a different type of <br />neighborhood that we have now. This is unacceptable. If Mrs. Valdez wants to set up a B&B <br />breakfast [sic] for financial gain, please set it up elsewhere. We need our peace and quiet. <br />I wish to conclude by saying to Mrs. Valdez another bed and breakfast business is not welcome <br />in our quiet, happy neighborhood. Please respect that. To the County board, I implore you. <br />Please deny Mrs. Valdez's application for the bed and breakfast. <br />HENKEL: Thank you, Ms. Gutteling. <br />GUTTELING: Thank you. <br />HENKEL: Mr. Duerr, would you state your name and where you reside? <br />DUERR: Yeah, my name is Robert Duerr. I want to thank you for allowing me to speak, and no <br />insult to Ms. Valdez or to Mr. Stephenson. <br />I feel that the proposed B&B is detrimental to the neighborhood. I've lived in the—I've <br />submitted written testimony, and I've lived there since, two houses down, since 1985. The <br />neighborhood's cul-de-sac, the narrowest part of the street is 17 feet wide, and it's also a <br />dangerous entrance and exit to the highway. My concerns are section, in section 25-4-7, bed and <br />breakfast establishments, section b(1), the principal use as a residence by its operator. <br />I have trouble understanding who the operator is because Ms. Valdez in her—in her notices to <br />the neighborhood wrote from a LLC address in Honolulu although the property zoned in the <br />trust and Ms. Valdez here was speaking as a, as a person. So, who is the operator? <br />I have problems with the, with the actions of the property. The property was bought and then <br />was immediately, well, evidently within two months put up for sale. It then became an illegal <br />B&B operation in 2016 and then the—the whole action seemed that basically the property was <br />EXHIBIT A <br />10 <br />
