in and have a life, and I tried it for two months, and I couldn't handle it. I'm not looking for sympathy. I'm looking for understanding. I bought the house and moved into it, and I realized I could not live in. I can't live anywhere except in a condominium which I have at Bay Shore Tower. So, I had the house on the market for a year, and I tried very hard to sell it, but, you know, property values are not very great here. They will be one day. You wait and see. And, someone said, why don't you try a bed & breakfast, and I didn't know about it, but I did, and I worked with a young lady. We learned together, tried to learn, and we became very successful. We paid six -seven thousand dollars in taxes at this point alone, and hope to continue to do that. I have made it very pretty. All the—all the visitors so far have been very positive. They come early. They leave early. They stay all day. They come back. They sleep there. They get up, and they leave again. And, they write good `ole things that no one on the island has ever given a lei except us. And, we buy leis for every visitor that comes, and we try to treat them like theyI want them to see Hawaii the way I see Hawaii the 40 some odd years I've been here. And, I would like to have the license for everybody's benefit—taxes, for the tourists, and I only have one request. I know you don't want me there. I understand that, but I have people coming, and I don't know—Beverly took everything off the list, so we have no way to get in touch with any of the people to let `em know not to come. So, they're going to be coming starting today. I have nowhere to put `em. I asked Maija to help me. I don't know what she said. I can't even have those people in the house she doesn't think. It's up to your, your—your decision to make — I don't want to put `em in the street. They don't know where to put `em `cause it's Merry Monarch. I'm sorry. You've talked about your inability to live in the house as a permanent resident. And, what about other possibilities like long-term rental to a family that would, you know VALDEZ: I, I don't want to be long distance any more. I'm old. I want to, I have all my units on the market in Honolulu for sale except one that I'll be living in, and I will keep Bayshore to come and visit and attend HENKEL: —Could you please use the microphone? VALDEZ: Oh, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. Forgive me. I am selling everything I own in Honolulu. I'm too old to be in the rental business especially almost blind. I will go blind.
