Should the protest concerning the change order be unresolved, <br />the County reserves the right to perform this work by force <br />account as outlined in Section 9.4(b) "FORCE ACCOUNT WORK" <br />or make such arrangements as may be deemed necessary to complete <br />the work. <br />5. When the protest concerning a change order relates to the <br />adjustment of contract time or the completion of the work, <br />the time to be allowed therefor will be determined as provided <br />in Subsection 8.8. <br />(d) Dec_ed or Del„ eted W,,Wo ,;k - Should it become necessary for the best <br />interest of the County to decrease or delete a portion of the work <br />called for in the contract, a change order shall be issued and a <br />rebate for this change order shall be as outlined in Subsection 4.2(c). <br />For a Account Work If a change order is protested, work performed <br />shall be paid, in accordance with Subsection 9.4(b) "FORCE ACCOUNT <br />WORK" and all force account work shall be under the supervision of <br />the County unless otherwise directed in writing. Before any force <br />account work is carried out, the Contractor shall submit labor <br />insurance rates and equipment rental rates for the Engineer's <br />approval. <br />(e) <br />MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC — The Contractor shall plan and prosecute his work <br />when the construction involves closing or relocation of any local road or.high— <br />way so that traffic will be hindered to a minimum. Unless otherwise stated in <br />the plans or special provisions, through traffic over local, State or U.S. <br />highways, will be detoured away from the work underway and over marked detours <br />of temporary roads to be maintained by the Contractor at the direction of the <br />Engineer and at no cost to the County. <br />Wherever and whenever possible, roads or highways shall be kept open to <br />permit at least one—way traffic. The Contractor shall provide temporary <br />traffic bridges to accommodate one traffic lane and to provide access to <br />private driveways when trenches cross said driveways. The temporary traffic <br />bridges shall be constructed so that their decks are flush with the pavement, <br />in accordance to standard practice, and shall be maintained free from projecting <br />nails, splinters or rough edges. The cost of such bridges shall be included in <br />the price bid for the various items of the project. <br />4.4,,_,SAFETY REGULATION — All machinery, equipment; etc., and other hazard shall <br />be properly guarded in accordance with safety rules and regulations of the <br />State and provisions of the Manual of Accident Prevention in Construction <br />published by the Associated General Contractors of America, in so far as they <br />are applicable. The General Safety Code, Rule XX, presented by the Commission <br />of Labor and Industrial Relations adopted July 18, 1956 and effective January <br />1, 1957, is applicable and made a part of the contract.
