• <br />• <br />• <br />.5.6 COOPERATION BETWEEN T;IE CONTRACTOR AND THE DEPART ENT - <br />(a) Plans a,nd S ecifica,tion - The Contractor will be supplied up to <br />twelve (12 copies of the plans and specifications. The Contractor <br />shall have available on the work, at all times, one copy each of <br />said plans and specifications; he shall give the work the constant <br />attention necessary to facilitate the progress thereof and shall <br />cooperate with the Engineer and with other Contractors in every <br />possible way. <br />(b) Order by - Any order given by the Engineer, not otherwise <br />required by the specifications to be in writing, will on request of <br />the Contractor be given or confirmed by the Engineer in writing. <br />(c) Authorized Rearesent t've - An authorized representative of the <br />Contractor shall be present at the site of the work at all times <br />while work is actually in progress on the contract. <br />(d) F eering,ff2 k - The Contractor shall, subject to approval of the <br />Engineer, properly and accurately lay out the work and shall perform <br />all engineering work and furnish all engineering materials and equip- <br />ment required to establish and maintain all lines and grades called <br />for on the plan or required in the progress of construction, unless <br />otherwise noted in the specifications. The Contractor will be held <br />definitely and absolutely responsible for any errors in lines, grades <br />or elevations and shall at once on instruction from the Engineer <br />correct and make good such errors or any errors or faults in the work <br />resulting from errors in engineering performed under the requirements <br />of his contract to the entire satisfaction of the Engineer. Fall <br />compensation for the work shall be included in the prices paid for <br />contract items of work. No additional allowance will be made for <br />the correction of incorrect engineering work. The Contractor shall <br />employ a licensed surveyor to lay out the work. <br />(e) <br />The Engineer shall furnish the requisite bench elevations and shall <br />indicate to the Contractor the lines and dimensions required by the <br />Plans. He will also check and pass upon all engineering work as <br />described above, and his decision as to what work is required, the <br />methods to be employed and the satisfactory performance of the same <br />shall be final. <br />Use of Structure - The Department shall have the right at any time <br />during construction of the structure or structures to enter same for <br />the purpose of installing by government labor or by any other Contractor <br />any necessary work in the connection with the installation of facili- <br />ties, it being mutually understood and agreed, however, that the <br />Contractor and the Department will, so far as possible, work to the <br />mutual advantage of both, where their several works :In the above- <br />mentioned or in unforeseen instances touch upon or interfere with <br />each other. The Engineer shall allocate the work and designate the <br />sequence of construction in case of controversy between Contractors <br />on separate projects under County jurisdiction. <br />Section 5 <br />Page 21 <br />
