10. Coordinate, and direct the development, organization and oversight of Capital Improvement <br /> Projects including Federal Aid Projects. <br /> 11. Perform other related duties as required. <br /> December 2016 to October 2017: Position: Deputy Director <br /> County of Hawaii Department of Public Works — Hilo, HI <br /> Duties: <br /> 1. tinder the general direction of the Department of Public Works Director, assist in planning, <br /> organizing, directing. and overseeing the activities and operations of the Department of <br /> Public Works six divisions: Administration, Automotive, Building, Engineering, Highway <br /> Maintenance and Traffic. <br /> 2. Assist the Director in managing the Department of Public Works and assumes responsibility <br /> for the department as the Acting Director and represents the Director in his absence. <br /> 3. Participate in the development and administration of the Department's budget: approval of <br /> the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; approval of <br /> expenditures and implement budgetary adjustments as appropriate and necessary. <br /> 4. Serve as one of the County's resource for technical engineering expertise. <br /> 5. Explain, justify and defend the Department of Public Works programs, policies, and <br /> activities. <br /> 6. Coordinate support to first responders during emergency events. Assist with Emergency <br /> Operation Center duties. <br /> 7. Represent the Department of Public Works to the general public, coordinate/ facilitate Public <br /> Works activities with public service needs. <br /> 8. Assist in the development, organization and os,ersight of Capital Improvement Projects <br /> including Federal Aid Projects. <br /> 9. Assist in supervising division managers and support staff, and in the hiring and interviewing <br /> of department personnel. <br /> 10. Represent the Department of Public Works to other County departments, elected officials and <br /> outside agencies; coordinate the Department's activities with those of other departments, <br /> outside agencies and organizations. <br /> 11. Respond to and/or assist in resolving inquiries and complaints. <br /> 12. Perform other related duties as required. <br />
