Page 27
just we don't actually -- you know, the July lst budget
for next fiscal year hasn't opinion approved yet, so
we're still working on that.
MR. HARANO: Yeah. Well, let's say it's
effective July lst. Then the money that was -- this
rainy day fund that's in the budget year -ending
June 30, '18, that -- I assume what is not spent goes
back into the General Fund, correct?
MS. SAKO: Right. So that becomes our fund
balance, which is one of the revenue items that we
utilize in the following year.
MR. HARANO: And will that specifically be
that rainy day fund for salaries, wages?
MS. SAKO: We don't necessarily designate
that it's for salaries and wages. We have to have our
revenues match our expenditures; so we come up with all
the expenditures that we have to have. We come up with
our revenue sources. And then it becomes a balancing
act, if we need to trim or we need to increase revenues
or what the process is. But we're still early in the
process. You know, they're still working on things
like real property tax values. The legislature is
still meeting. So I don't know what may come out of
that. Last year there were a lot of cost items that
came out of that for us that impacted the County.
ISLAND COURT REPORTING & TRANSCRIPTION SERVICES
(808) 933-9800
