Page 14
that report -- or are appointed by the mayor, the
commission, or the county council. So those are the
multitude of positions. There's 25 shown there. And
the last column is just the comments. So the comments
that are noted by the red asterisk are those positions
that require either special certifications or more than
minimum qualifications. As an example, you know, you
cannot have a non -attorney serving as the prosecuting
attorney or the corp. counsel. And also police and
fire chief require certain minimum qualifications, as
do the engineering directors, which require
professional engineer's license. And I may have some
of these incorrect. It's just kind of a good guess at
best. But we can always correct those. And that was
Florence's suggestion, to note those that require
certain minimum qualifications or certifications.
So the next row across is how these salaries
would be set. And, basically, I just highlighted certain
things, that the Salary Commission can adopt its own
administrative procedures. And that's within the
statute right now. The starting salary -- so, anyway,
the law requires that the salaries for all these
positions are set by the Salary Commission and, right
now, only the Salary Commission. And, of course, we
all know that whatever we decide becomes final.
ISLAND COURT REPORTING & TRANSCRIPTION SERVICES
(808) 933-9800
