Page 26
discussion with the commission as to whether or not
they would like to do a internal rule change here with
the commission; but it's their full authority to, under
the charter, go ahead and propose a charter amendment
to address their concerns as it relates to the salary
commission -- and that's what they decided to do.
So, if the voters decide to adopt a proposed
rule amendment as stated in the -- I'm sorry -- charter
amendment, then our rule amendments will have to
coincide, and we'll have to address those specific
changes as voted on by the public because our rules
cannot be in any way different from the charter
provisions. The charter trumps, so we have to be in
compliance with the charter at all times.
MR. FRATINARDO: Thank you.
CHR. ONO: Anything else on that?
My thinking is that someplace along the line
as we continue to work on this, it might be
interesting, whether or not this commission decides to
take a position on the charter amendment either one way
or the other -- but as long as it stays on our agenda,
it's something that we can discuss. So I think we're
finished with that discussion.
Anything else? If not, let me see.
