BEI stated HAZMAT materials are stored in a concrete room, the <br />facility has multiple chemical sensors placed throughout the property and numerous <br />agencies perform assessments and inspections of their business. The business is <br />deemed safe for its current location. However, any future plans to move will be a <br />corporate decision. <br />c. HEP – Dave Cummings stated he plans to participate as an observer for Honokaa <br />Hospital’s next drill, which will be an active shooter exercise. The drill is expected to <br />originate at the clinic, move towards the hospital, and finally end in the community. <br />Exercise to take place in April. <br />d. Harbors – No representative <br />e. HELCO – Representative not present at time of report <br /> <br />VI. Community Report <br /> <br />State DOH – Department of Agriculture (DOA), Pesticide Division, is planning a ½ day <br />Pesticide Workshop and Exercise for all counties. This is in response to on-going releases <br />in the communities – statewide and the affects it’s been occurring near schools. HI County <br />recently experienced two such incidents. The DOA is planning to invite several state, <br />county and private business as participants with each county to have their own exercise. <br />Oahu is expected to be the first training venue. <br /> <br />VII. Department of Health HEER Report <br /> <br />a) J. Peard was not present. <br />b) A question was asked if the storage tanks along Kalanianaole Avenue is planning to <br />relocate to another location. It was discussed that relocating the tanks to another <br />location away from the pier would require additional underground pipelines and <br />resources, including increased financial burden on businesses. It was noted that the <br />greater threat is the transportation of fuel around the island via fuel tankers. <br />c) S. Leonida presented a copy of the Colorado Marijuana Facility Compliance Report. <br />Colorado has one of the largest marijuana industries in the nation and is having a difficult <br />time with regulating this industry. <br /> <br />VIII. Budget <br /> <br />a) Chair Kosaki distributed copies of the Financial Report (unaudited). <br />b) Chair informed the committee members that he plans to meet and discuss with the <br />HAZMAT Captains on what equipment they may need and to prioritize the procurement <br />of said equipment. <br />c) Chair identified and discussed three training venues: Continuing Challenge (CA) <br />September 2017, NASTTPO (FL) May 2017, and Hot Zone (TX). Chair and members <br />discussed the merits between all three programs. Motion made and seconded to send <br />three HI county members to the Continuing Challenge and one representative to <br />NASTTPO. A deadline of March 16, 2017 was set for anyone interested in attending the <br />NASTTPO conference. Contact Chair Kosaki directly. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
