c. Design and Investigation <br /> ( 1 ) Designs and implements roads, bridges, and drainage <br /> improvement C. I .P. projects. <br /> (2) Reviews and approves subdivision construction plans. <br /> (3) Supervises and coordinates mandatory bi-annual FHA bridge <br /> inspection program. <br /> (4) Reviews and recommends to Planning Department on various <br /> land use applications, permits, studies, and Environmental <br /> Impact Statements. <br /> (5) Administers various regulatory permits within County <br /> right-of-ways and grading activities. <br /> d. Construction Inspection <br /> . ( 1 ) Inspects County projects, except building construction, to <br /> ensure quality control in accordance with contract documents. <br /> (2) Inspects and approves subdivision construction. <br /> (3) Inspects and approves various regulatory related <br /> construction permits. <br /> (4) Inspect and document inspection of County bridges. <br /> • . D. Highway Maintenance Division <br /> Activities: <br /> a. Highway Maintenance : Responsible for maintaining the 998 miles <br /> of county roads. Routine maintenance includes: <br /> (1 ) Repairing and maintaining the pavement and shoulders. <br /> (2) Mowing <br /> (3) Tree and brush trimming • <br /> (4) Maintaining highway appurtenances, such as culverts, <br /> drywells, and guardrails. <br /> (5) Litter pick up. <br /> b. Flood Control Channel Maintenance : Maintain the County ' s flood <br /> control channels. <br /> c. Cemeteries : Maintains and issues plots in some of the County ' s <br /> cemeteries. <br /> d. Solid Waste assistance : Supports the Solid Waste program by <br /> cleaning the transfer station areas and providing other support <br /> as needed. <br /> e. Civil Defense assistance : Supports Civil Defense during <br /> emergencies to protect life and property and maintain/restore <br /> life supporting services and facilities. <br /> • <br /> -4- <br />
