That was a note I made. <br /> ONO: As far as I know, the only funds that we would <br /> get would be funds funneled through the Department of <br /> Transportation, but they are not included as part of our <br /> operating budget . The fund comes from fuel taxes and weight <br /> taxes and other miscellaneous charges . Oh, the other one is <br /> the franchise tax, which comes from the utility companies . <br /> BETHEA: Fuel taxes, weight taxes and the public <br /> utilities franchise tax. . . <br /> ONO: Yes , sir. <br /> BETHEA: . . . for this County all goes to. . . <br /> ONO: The higher. . . <br /> BETHEA: . . .your department or your own County highway <br /> fund? <br /> ONO: Yes . <br /> BETHEA: What portion of your budget is met by revenues <br /> from these sources? <br /> McCLURE: Roughly a third for each of them. You know, <br /> I think it ' s 30, 38, roughly a third from each of them. <br /> BETHEA: So that the funds expended by the highway <br /> maintenance division come. . .all come from these revenues? <br /> They' re not supplemented by any other revenues? <br /> ONO: That ' s correct . Over the past three years, the <br /> fund has been unsupplemented. <br /> McCLURE: Mr. Chairman, there ' s a nominal $150 , <br /> $200,000 out of the $6,000,000 dollar budget that comes from <br /> services performed by the highway maintenance personnel to <br /> other departments that is reimbursed, because they are <br /> highway funded people . . .you know, the highway fund is to be <br /> expended only on highway activities When they do other <br /> activities like cleaning up a solid waste station, we pay <br /> them back. <br /> ONO: By law, we have to pay them back. <br /> 136 <br />
