Page 37
CHR. ONO: Okay. Restate that motion for me
so that we can --
MR. PAVAO: I move that we table this
proposed raises at some future meeting no later than
February of 2019.
CHR. ONO: Do I have a second on that?
MR. HARANO: I second.
MR. FRATINARDO: I second, but I would also
like -- going forward, the new rules have to reflect
how we come about creating the raises so it's a desktop
procedure for the next guy coming in behind me, you
know. So all he has to do is open up the rule book, the
administrative rule, to see how those -- and I'm in
Milton's camp with this -- that we start applying it to
the rules now, start formulating the rules of how we're
going to address the inversions so it's technical, so
we have to sit down with Mr. Brilhante and his staff.
That needs to be in the rules so it's open to the
public how we come about awarding these raises and how
we address and fine-tune situations like inversion, and
how we apply that to their bargaining unit, and how
their collective bargaining is agreed upon. Whatever
percentages they get, how do we apply that to the
appointed and elected officials. So that needs to be
all in the rules.
ISLAND COURT REPORTING & TRANSCRIPTION SERVICES
(808) 933-9800
