FIRE CAPTAIN 2 - 6.025 <br />• Plans and conducts drills and training sessions on firefighting and rescue methods, <br />use of station equipment and tools, and on department policies, procedures, fire <br />codes, regulations, and laws. <br />• Preplans strategy for firefighting, search and rescue, and hazardous materials <br />operations by becoming familiar with the conditions existing in the assigned area. <br />• Plans work assignments and safety inspection tours for subordinates. <br />• Consults with superiors on unusual problems and situations relating to fire hazards <br />and code violations. <br />• Administers the fire facilities and equipment maintenance program. <br />• Conducts periodic inspections of station and equipment to ensure proper <br />maintenance and operating readiness. <br />• Instructs relief personnel of the proper duties of the Company Commander. <br />• May act as relief for superior officers in their absences. <br />• May organize and conduct demonstrations in firefighting and rescue methods and <br />explain use of equipment. <br />• May operate fire apparatus as needed. <br />• May participate in firefighting duties as required. <br />• May be assigned to any of the department's specialized bureaus and supervises <br />and/or performs work in connection therewith. <br />Training: <br />• Participates in the development of standard emergency operation procedures <br />and safety policies for the Hawaii Fire Department. <br />• Participates in developing countywide standardization of instructions related to <br />firefighting, search and rescue, hazardous materials, and the safe operation of fire <br />fighting equipment. <br />• Coordinates in-service training programs with various company commanders on <br />various topics. <br />• Prepares and distributes training materials to fire companies island -wide. <br />• Conducts all Fire Fighter Recruit classes for new hires. <br />• Hans and conducts standardized driver training instructions for all members of the <br />emergency operations division as well as the Fire Equipment Mechanics. <br />
