FIRE CAPTAIN - 3 - 6.025 • Conducts and oversees refresher training for departmental personnel. • Schedules and conducts upgrading, annual, and road test audits. • Establishes and maintains departmental driver training records and qualification files. • Schedules and conducts upgrading, annual, and road test audits. • Establishes and maintains departmental driver training records and qualification files. • Schedules HFD/DOT medical examinations. • Conducts periodic inspections of fire stations and maintenance shop to ensure operations readiness of drivers. • Participates in live fire exercises. • May respond to multiple -company alarms to evaluate performance of Fire Equipment Operators. • Shall conduct investigations of vehicle accidents. • May assist with the development of specifications for fire apparatus and/or equipment. • Performs other related duties as required. Volunteer Training: • Conducts monthly training drills with volunteer fire companies to include fire fighting and rescue techniques, equipment and apparatus operations, and driver training. • Maintains training records for each volunteer unit. • Conducts periodic inspections of the volunteer fire stations and equipment to ensure proper maintenance and operational readiness. • Participates in live fire exercises. • May respond to brush fires, rescue calls, and local disasters to observe volunteer fire company operations. • Coordinates scheduling of maintenance and repairs for volunteer apparatus and equipment. • Coordinates biannual scheduling of DOT safety vehicles checks for all volunteer units.
