No. 245Bi11 No. 108 <br />Council Chair and 'vlcmber, <br />Hawaii County Council <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Your Committee on Finance. fo which was referred Bill No. 108, reports as Billows: <br />Bill No. 108. transmitted b~ Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication No. 245. <br />dated May 7.2003, amends Chapter 2. Article 18 of the E Iawai'i County ('ode 198 i (1995 <br />Edition), relating to uncollectible accounts. <br />Bill No. I OR proposes to remo~r the sentence from section 2-109, which states "No account shall <br />be so deleted until it shall have been delinquent for al least two consecutive years." <br />Currentl~~ the County of Hawaii is required to keep all accounts recci~ahle on the C'ounty's <br />books for a minimum of two years, how-ever. many of its accounts receivables arc known to be <br />uncollectible much Sooner than two years. "I~he criteria in section ?-108 of the I fawai'i County <br />Code are very specific and this sentence is not needed. Remming the time frame will allow- the <br />County to better reflect the true accounts receivable balances.
