Sako <br />Deputy Director <br />£...: <br />_7� <br />C , <br />v <br />Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Capital Budget to increase the current <br />fiscal year's appropriation of the Ali'i Drive Culvert Replacement project (a.k.a. Kahului or <br />Wai'aha Drainage way) by $1,008,000 and bringing its total amount up to $1,508,000. <br />This additional appropriation is necessary to cover the costs needed for the engineering <br />design, acquire the necessary land, and obtain required permits for this project to <br />accommodate a wider and longer bridge, along with the associated upstream channel <br />improvements. <br />The basis for an increase in the appropriation is prompted primarily by the need to fund <br />land acquisition costs, and secondarily to allow continuation of permit application <br />processing with several federal and state agencies that have jurisdiction and purview of <br />the proposed activities at the bridge. <br />In order to help expedite this project, the Department of Public Works requests that the bill <br />be waived from the Finance Committee and heard at the November 4, 2010 Council <br />meeting. <br />If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Department of Public Works. <br />Nanc E.
