This <br /> provision, i.e. paragraph 27-18(a)(3)(F), upon approval of this ordinance, shall <br /> take effect on March 31, 2008." <br /> C) Paragraph 27-18(a)(4)(B)(ii) was amended as follows: <br /> "(ii) For nonresidential new construction, improvements to repetitive loss <br /> structures, and substantial improvements, the lowest floor shall be elevated or <br /> floodproofed above the highest adjacent grade at least one foot above the <br /> depth number specified in feet on the FIRM, or at least three feet if no depth <br /> number is specified. If the lowest floor is ['~.e -°F ~°~°°a <br /> s~see~iea " ' <br /> 4'~~"'~(A`~] less than one foot above the death number <br /> specified in feet on the FIRM, or less than three feet if no depth number is <br /> specified, then the structure together with attendant utility and sanitary <br /> facilities, shall be designed, constructed and certified by a professional civil <br /> engineer or architect licensed in the State of Hawaii, such that: <br /> (aa) The structure is watertight below the referenced flood elevation. <br /> (bb) The walls aze substantially impermeable to the passage of water. <br /> (cc) The structural components are capable of resisting hydrostatic and <br /> hydrodynamic loads and the effects of buoyancy." <br /> D) New subsections (b) and (c): <br /> "(b) Other areas: Zone X (shaded). <br /> (1) For new construction, the lowest floor shall be elevated at least two <br /> feet above the adiacent Grade. <br /> (2) For concrete basements with habitable room(s), the sill plate shall be at <br /> least one foot above the adiacent erade. <br /> (3) New construction shall be required to provide drainage aoound and <br /> away from proposed structures. <br /> (4) The director or designated representative may waive this requirement <br /> when topographical data or evidence, submitted by a civil en ineer or <br /> land survevor currently licensed in the State of Hawaii, indicates that <br /> there are no appazent flood hazards to the proposed structure. This <br /> provision, i.e. subsection 17-18(b), upon approval of this ordinance, <br /> shall take effect on March 31, 2008. <br /> (c) Within Zone X (unshaded): <br /> (J For new construction, the lowest floor shall be elevated at least one <br /> foot above the adjacent grade. <br /> (2) For concrete basements with habitable room(s), the sill plate shall be at <br /> least one foot above the adiacent rade. <br /> (3) New construction shall be required to provide drainage around and <br /> away from proposed structures. <br /> <br />
