POSITION Si11VIlVIARY: <br />Position Title -Balanced Transportation Coordinator <br />Department- Planning Department County of Hawaii <br />Salary Range - $49,000 to $57,720 per year <br />Class -Planner V, SR-24 <br />Position Status -One year funding by State of Hawaii Dept. of Health <br />QUALIFICATIONS: <br />• Work Experience: Minimum two years of full-time {32 hours/week or more) experience in <br />transportation planning, urban design, engineering, program management, <br />bicycle/pedestrian/transitprngrams or advocacy, public policy/administration or related areas. <br />• Education/Training: Minimum Bachelor's degree in Planning, Urban Design, Transportation <br />Planning, Traffic ar Civil Engineering, Public Policy, Public Administration, or a related field. <br />• Equivalency: Education/Training and/or work experience may be substituted on a year for year <br />basis if the application clearly shows the required number of years to meet the Total Qualifying <br />Requirement for this position (based on the sum of work experience and education/training <br />listed above) and possession of the required skills to perform position's essential functions. The <br />Total Qualifying Requirement is six (6) years. <br />POSITION DUTIES: <br />Under general supervision, the Balanced Transportation Coordinator is responsible for initiating the <br />integrated development, coordination and implementation of a county wide program that ensures <br />bicycle, pedestrian and other non-motorized transportation modes of travel are integrated into the <br />Hawaii Island infrastructure. This position serves as the County of Hawaii government's point <br />person and liaison representing these multi-modal interests iuncluding supporting access and use of <br />mass transit and recreational trails. <br />Program Development & Implementation <br />~ Develop, coordinate and implement aCounty-wide Balanced Transportation Plan/program <br />which addresses bicycle, pedestrian, other non-motorized transportation modes in a <br />comprehensive integrated systems manner. Review recommendations for County General <br />Plan and Community Development Plans; identify, prioritize and implement actions as part <br />of County Balanced Transportation Plan/program. <br />• integrate County Balanced Transportation Plan/program with State Department of <br />Health, Healthy Hawaii Initiative and support collaborative effort to foster healthy <br />Living and active community efforts. <br />DOH REF NO..HH108-06 Exhibit "A" <br />1 <br />
