The <br />property is located mauka ofKapi'olani Street and the County ofHawai'i Police complex, <br />Kukuau 1 S\ South Hilo, Hawai'i. <br /> <br />The Commission concurs with the following Planning Director's reasons for recommending <br />favorable consideration of the request: <br /> <br />The applicant requests a change in zoning from RS-7.5 to RM-1.5 for <br />approximately 4.68 acres and RM-l to RM-1.5 for approximately 0.37 acres ofland in <br />order to development of a 100-unit, four-story multiple-family residential complex <br />consisting of six structures which will house two-bedroom units (of approximately 1,311 <br />sq. ft ofliving area), one-bedroom units (of approximately 877 sq. ft ofliving area), and <br />studio units (of approximately 709 sq. ft. of living area), a swimming pool and pool <br />house, on-site parking areas and landscaping. The applicant states "the availability of <br />multiple-family living housing inventory in the South Hilo Region is limited. With <br />continued urban growth, mobile populations and rising costs of land and improvements, <br /> <br />Hawai'i County is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer <br />
