Section 5-84. Purpose. <br /> This article adopts with amendments,the International Energy Conservation Code, 2015 <br /> Edition, as it was incorporated into the Hawaii State Energy Conservation Code that became <br /> effective on March 31, 2017. The purpose of the resulting article is to promote the design of <br /> energy-efficient building envelopes and installation of energy-efficient mechanical, lighting, and <br /> power systems by establishing minimum standards that promote modem and up-to-date energy- <br /> efficient performance in the construction, alteration, or equipment of buildings or structures in <br /> the County of Hawaii. <br /> Section 5-85. International Energy Conservation Code adopted. <br /> (a) The"International Energy Conservation Code,2015 Edition"herein referred to as the <br /> "International Energy Conservation Code,"as copyrighted and published in 2015 by the <br /> International Code Council,Incorporated, 500 New Jersey Avenue, 6th Floor, Washington, <br /> DC 20001,is incorporated by reference and made a part of this chapter, subject to the <br /> amendments hereinafter set forth in this article. The appendices of the International Energy <br /> Conservation Code are not adopted except as provided in this article. A copy of the <br /> International Energy Conservation Code shall be available for public inspection at the Hilo <br /> and Kailua-Kona offices of the department of public works and at the office of the county <br /> clerk. <br /> (b) This incorporation by reference includes all parts of the International Energy Conservation <br /> Code, 2015 Edition, subject to the amendments hereinafter set forth. <br /> (1) Subsection C101.1 of the International Energy Conservation Code is amended to read <br /> as follows: <br /> "CIOLI Title. This code shall be known as the [fit matien6d] Energy Conservation <br /> Code [of NAME OF JURISDICTION] and shall be cited as such. [it is fefefred to <br /> hefein as "this eode."] "This code"when used within the International Energy <br /> Conservation Code as incorporated by reference herein, means the Energy <br /> Conservation Code of the Co" of Hawai'i." <br /> (2) Subsection C101.4 of the International Energy Conservation Code is amended to read <br /> as follows: <br /> "CIOIA Applicability. Where, in any specific case, different sections of this code or <br /> other adopted codes specify different materials, methods of construction or other <br /> requirements, the [most r-estfiefi�ve shall gave ] code offleial shall determine which <br /> code requirements shall prevail. Where there is a conflict between a general <br /> requirement and a specific requirement, the specific requirement shall govern." <br /> 3 <br />
