15. Flora/Fauna Resources: There were no professionals flora/fauna surveys conducted of <br />the site. The applicants do not believe that rare or endangered floral or faunal resources <br />are likely on the site, as the property has been previously used for fanning, which <br />included substantial tilling, plowing and cattle grazing. The property is not known to be <br />a habitat for any rare or endangered animal life. <br />16. Archaeological Resources: Since the property was formerly used for fanning and cattle <br />grazing, no commissioned archaeological survey was conducted. It is expected that no <br />archaeological or historic features exist on the property. By letter dated March 3, 2005, <br />the applicants have requested a "no effect" letter from the State Department of Land and <br />Natural Resources Historic Preservation Division (DLNR-HPD). There has been no <br />response and the Planning Department is processing this application because the deadline <br />for response under SHPD rules has expired. <br />17. Cultural or Native Gathering Rights: According to the landowners, there is no <br />evidence of any traditional and customary Native Hawaiian rights being practiced on the <br />property, nor existence of any known valued cultural. historical or native resources in the <br />area. <br />18. Public Access: There is no record of a designated public access to the shoreline or <br />mountain areas that traverses the property. <br />PUBLIC UTILITIES AND SERVICES <br />19. Access: Access to two of the lots is proposed to be from Ivlamalahoa Highway, a County <br />road with an approximate 20 -foot wide pavement with grass shoulders all within an <br />approximately 50 -foot right-of-way. Access to the remaining six lots is proposed from <br />Hauhoa Street and Uhiwai Street, both County roadways. <br />20. Water: According to the Department of Water Supply, water can be made available <br />from two existing 6 -inch waterlines along Uhiwai Street and Hauhoa Street and the 12 - <br />inch waterline along Mamalahoa Highway. <br />21. Wastewater: As there is no municipal sewer system in the area, wastewater will be <br />disposed of by a cesspool or individual wastewater system, meeting the requirements of <br />the Department of Health. <br />22. Solid Waste: Solid waste disposal will be by County transfer stations located in Waimea <br />and Honokaa. <br />-3- <br />
