Public Works (Contact Person: Jiro Sumada): <br /> <br /> $75,910 Public Works Administration - OCE: <br /> Additional Funding is requested for the following items/projects: (Miscellaneous <br /> Contractual Services - $71,750). <br /> Waikoloa Emergency Road Materials ($60,000): <br /> The proposed gravel road project will connect Waikoloa Village to <br /> the Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway. The purpose of the project is to <br /> provide an alternate route for Waikoloa residents to evacuate the <br /> village in the event of an emergency. The Waikoloa Community <br /> Association will be contributing $90,000 towards the project. <br /> Headsets for Dozer Operators for Wildland Fires ($11,000): <br /> The headsets for dozer operators are needed to provide <br /> communication between Fire Department and Public Works field <br /> supervisors to effectively direct where County and private <br /> bulldozers should cut fire breaks during wildland fire operations. <br /> The headsets will also be used in other emergency situations by <br /> the Fire Department to communicate with field supervisors and <br /> dispatched field personnel. <br /> Fire Department & DPW Incident Command System Training <br /> 750 <br /> Some of the new Highway Maintenance Division personnel need <br /> hands on training to learn how Public Works interfaces with the Fire <br /> Department to direct resources in response to a variety of <br /> emergency situations. The Incident Command System (ICS) <br /> training will allow the DPW Supervisors to practice command and <br /> control skills in the fields under simulated emergency conditions. <br /> Due to the increase in the amounts given towards employee's service and <br /> retirement awards, additional funding is being requested. (Employee Awards - <br /> $4,160). <br /> $56,000 Automotive Division -Equipment (Miscellaneous Equipment) <br /> Due to the EPA's April 1, 2006 deadline to implement the use of ethanol fuel, <br /> seven (7) of the Public Works' fuel pumps are being replaced to be in compliance <br /> with the Federal requirements. <br /> 3 <br /> <br />
