The U.S. Department of Transportation National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is providing this grant to enforce and educate the public on the importance of Seatbelt usage by purchasing educational materials for presentations and conducting Seatbelt roadblocks for North and South Kona. Comm. 422: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 01-55, AS AMENDED, THE OPERATING (Bill 134) BUDGET FOR THE COUNTY OF HAWAII FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2002 (Appropriating a $1,001.20 Speed Awareness & Check Project Grant) From Director of Finance William Takaba, dated November 6, 2001, transmitting the above bill. The State Department of Transportation Public Affairs Office -Safe Community Program will be providing funds to purchase radios, vests and flashlights for the newly formed citizen patrol that will help to reduce the number of speeding motorists in the Lower Kaumana Gardens Community. The State Department of Transportation Public Affairs Office -Safe Community Program will be providing funds to purchase an LCD projector to use during presentations on traffic safety to community members and organization. Comm. 424: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. Ol -55, AS AMENDED, THE OPERATING (Bill 136) BUDGET FOR THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`1 FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2002 (Appropriating a $1,050 Alcohol & Other Drug Countermeasure Project Grant) From Director of Finance William Takaba, dated November 6, 2001, transmitting the above bill. The State Department of Transportation Public Affairs Office -Safe Community Program will be providing funds to hire security services for the Napo'opo'o Wharf during the evenings for atwo- month trial period. The grant is to minimize or eliminate calls related to alcohol and drug abuse, speeding and reckless driving, and violation of rules. Comm. 425: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 01-55, AS AMENDED, THE OPERATING (Bill 137) BUDGET FOR THE COUNTY OF HAWAII FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2002 (Appropriating an additional $128,807 in the Clandestine Dru Lg ab Program) From Director of Finance William Takaba, dated November 6, 2001, transmitting the above bill. The State of Hawaii Department of Attorney General Crime Prevention and Justice Assistance Program is providing this grant to enhance the ability of the Hawaii County Police Department to conduct aggressive, comprehensive and coordinated law enforcement activities to detect, identify, access and counter or neutralize clandestine drug manufacturing laboratories by training officers and purchasing the proper equipment. The total grant amount is $128,807 more than what is shown in the current Operating Budget.
