<br /> SECTION 6. Chapter 27, article 2, section 27-8, Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005
<br />
<br /> edition), as amended, is hereby amended to read as follows:
<br /> Section 27-8. Other laws and regulations.
<br /> All construction and improvements subject to this chapter shall comply
<br /> with other applicable laws and regulations including, but not limited to, the
<br /> zoning, building, electricity, plumbing, subdivision, erosion and sedimentation
<br /> control chapters of the Hawaii County Code, and the storm drainage standards,
<br /> October 1970 edition, or later revisions of the County of Hawaii. This chapter,
<br /> designed to reduce flood losses, shall take precedence over any less restrictive,
<br /> conflicting laws, ordinances, and regulations. This chapter is not intended to
<br /> repeal, abrogate, or impair any existing easements, covenants, or deed restrictions.
<br /> However, where this chapter and another chapter, easement, covenant, or deed
<br /> restriction conflict or overlap, whichever imposes the more stringent restrictions
<br /> shall prevail.
<br /> In the event of a conflict between this chapter and the National Flood
<br /> Insurance Program and Related Regulations (NFIP), as amended, the mrr.n°] more
<br /> restrictive provision will govern.
<br /> SECTION 7. Chapter 27, article 2, section 27-12, Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005
<br /> edition), as amended, is hereby amended to read as follows:
<br /> Section 27-12. Definitions.
<br /> [(-aj] Unless specifically defined below, words or phrases used in this chapter
<br /> shall be interpreted so as to give them the meaning they have in common usage
<br /> and to give this chapter its most reasonable application.
