AS AMENDED, THE OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE COUNTY OF HAWAI'1 FOR THE FISCAL YEAR F,NDING JUNE 30, 2004 (by appropriating $599,400 to the Civil Defense State Homeland Securit~Proaram accountl From Finance Director William Takaba, dated June 17, 2003, transmitting the above resolution and bill. 7~hese program funds, derived from a Federal grant from the Department of Homeland Security through the Office for Domestic Preparedness, are to be used for the purchase of specialized equipment to enhance the capability of state and county agencies to prevent and respond to incidents of terrorism involving the use of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or explosive (CBRNE) weapons. It also provides for the protection of critical infrastructure and prevention of terrorist incidents: for costs related to the design, development, conduct and evaluation of CBRNE'IYaining Program; and for costs associated with implementing each state's Homeland Security Strategy.
