<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Honoka'a Sewer System <br /> Currently Honoka' a town is on large capacity cesspools that must be phased out by 2005. <br /> Meetings with the State and community have indicated that it is very feasible to work to create a <br /> County sewer system in downtown Honoka'a. The estimated cost of the preliminary engineerng <br /> studies is $100,000, of which $20,000 will be covered by Councilman Fred Holschuh's <br /> discretionary funds. This request is to fund the balance of the study. <br /> <br /> Research & Development Deputy Director <br /> The position of Research & Development Deputy exists, but has not been funded in a number of <br /> years. Research & Development is expanding the scope of its operations to better fulfill its <br /> charter mandate and to increase service to the community through its Hawaii County Resource <br /> Center. Excellent results are being achieved, but the workload has increased dramatically. <br /> Therefore, this position is badly needed and fully justified. The amount requested will fund this <br /> position for the last six months of this fiscal year. <br /> Conclusion <br /> Further explanation and justification will be provided by the departments prior to this coming <br /> before the Finance Committee. You are encouraged to contact the departments with any <br /> questions you may have. <br /> <br /> We are fully aware that there are many other needs, also. We will be contacting you as <br /> Councilmembers to obtain your input and suggestions on the use of the balance of the available <br /> funds.
