<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Project Number 98-DP'-3 <br /> <br /> <br /> C O N T R A C T <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> THIS CONTRACT, dated by and <br /> between the Department of the Attorney General, State of Hawaii, <br /> <br /> hereinafter called "Agency", by and through the Attorney General, <br /> <br /> and the Hawaii County Police Department <br /> <br /> hereinafter called "Grantee". <br /> <br /> <br /> WITNESSETH <br /> <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Title I of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe <br /> <br /> Streets Act of 1968, 42 U. S. C. 3711 gt sea., as amended <br /> <br /> (hereinafter "Act"), was enacted to make grants to state and local <br /> <br /> government units to assist them in enforcing state and local laws <br /> which establish offenses similar to those established in the <br /> <br /> controlled Substances Act, and to improve the functioning of the <br /> <br /> criminal justice system, with emphases on violent crime and serious <br /> offenders, including the following programs: <br /> <br /> (1) demand reduction education programs in which law enforcement <br /> <br /> officers participate; <br /> <br /> (2) multi-jurisdictional task force programs that integrate <br /> federal, state and local drug law enforcement agencies and <br /> <br /> prosecutors for the purpose of enhancing interagency <br /> <br /> coordination and intelligence and facilitating multi- <br /> jurisdictional investigations; <br />
