Hawaii County Clerk 09/26/2024 09:05:25 AM Hawaii County Council-49 October 2,2024 Res. 630-24: APPROVES THE HAWAII COUNTY COUNCIL LEGISLATIVE PROPOSALS (Draft 2) AND PRIORITIES TO BE CONSIDERED FOR INCLUSION IN THE 2025 HAWAII STATE ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES LEGISLATIVE PACKAGE Includes proposals relating to the regulation of tobacco products, State land use boundary amendments, denitrification in individual wastewater systems, regulating midwife licensures, advancing the timeline and providing more funding for cesspool conversions, extending the County surcharge of general excise tax, and regulating agricultural tourism, and 10 policy priorities relating to: (1) increasing funds for emergency preparedness; (2) lowering the cost and expanding the availability of insurance for homeowners and businesses; (3) workforce development; (4) expanding access to midwifery licensures; (5) game management of wild ungulates; (6)promoting producer responsibility for solid waste; (7)prioritizing and promoting safe routes to school; (8) increasing access to locally- produced food; (9) improving public safety, expanding access to mental health resources, and establishing community courts; and(10)preventing squatters and supporting communities impacted by squatting.
