Earlier in this fiscal year the United States Department of Agriculture <br />Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) provided $191,000 towards the <br />estimated costs of engineering surveys and design services for the Kaumana Drive <br />Flood Protection Phase of the Wailuku- Alenaio Watershed. The Environmental Management Department's Solid <br />Waste Division received bids for the construction of permanent improvements at the <br />Pahoa Recycling and Transfer Station; however, the bid amounts exceeded the <br />funds that are available for the project.
